Red Bull Foiling Generation Spain 2016
The two-time Austrian Olympic champions (Tornado class): Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher, and sporting directors of Red Bull Foiling Generation, the sailing competition that aims to discover the world’s best young talent (aged 16 to 20) across its 15 stops, arrived in Spain in August, on the hunt for the country’s finest sailing talent.
Having visited Japan, the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and France in 2015, the 2016 calendar of stops is rounded off with New Zealand, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and the United States. It is in the United States that the competition will culminate with the world final, where, after a two-year search, the 15 winning teams (one from each stop) will finally face off in Newport, Rhode Island, in October 2016.
The Spanish venue chosen to host this competition is none other than the historic Puerto Sherry marina. During the first week of August, the Flying Phantoms, which glide over the water at speeds of up to 35 knots, sailed around the Bay of Cádiz during a week dominated by easterly winds, which made the competition difficult due to the extreme conditions.
Babblá was the production company responsible for the ground operations for the event. Infrastructure, technical production, ground staff, hostesses, technicians, furniture, etc. They joined forces with the competition team, comprising a group of local professionals and expert sailors who drew on their expertise to ensure the event lived up to expectations.
It’s a pleasure for us. Sailing is a sport that is very close to the hearts of our production team, especially in a city like ours, surrounded by water and where we see the sea as a way of life.
