Seville Campaign: Jose María Manzanares

At the 2015 Seville April Fair, the bullfighter José María Manzanares returned to fight at the Maestranza. This was a much-anticipated event in Seville, given the bullfighter’s absence during the 2014 season from the bullring where he had always been a standout in previous years, even opening the Puerta del Príncipe after a pardon in 2011.
For this occasion, he commissioned us to create an outdoor advertising campaign highlighting the bullfighter’s return to his beloved Seville. We developed several designs which were subsequently displayed in the busiest areas of Seville city centre and its surrounding areas. This included an extensive network of MUPIS billboards, as well as a network of 8×3 billboards positioned along the access roads to the city and the nearest towns.
The campaign was a success; the bullring was sold out on every afternoon that Manzanares fought.
In terms of the visuals, a photomontage was created incorporating the key elements: the bullfighter and the Maestranza in Seville. The image was developed and post-produced to blend the movement and passion of the bullfighter and the bull as seen through the eyes of the Maestranza.
