2014 Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos National Final
Having produced three of the four semi-finals of the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos across Spain, Red Bull’s Culture department asked us to handle the entire production of the National Final at home, on La Victoria Beach in Cádiz.
More than 20,000 people attended an event that we prepared for intensively over more than a month and which we set up and dismantled in a week. The beach was packed to the rafters, with the crowd waiting even before the event began and people from all over Spain in attendance.
But we pulled it off, and we pulled it off just as we should have. A stage 12 metres wide and over 14 metres high took up almost the entire dry stretch of sand on the beach. Over 85 m² of LED screens were spread across the beach and the stage, with a live production streamed worldwide to more than 15,000 viewers who followed the event in real time. Everything was in place for an event that ran from 9.30 pm until 3.30 am, kicking off when the World Acrobatic Paragliding Champion and Red Bull athlete, Horacio Llorens, landed right on La Victoria Beach to present the event. The “Roosters” began their battle with a single goal: to lift the trophy—which we designed and manufactured exclusively from aluminium for this event—and to represent Spain at the Red Bull Battle of the Roosters International Final.
The National Final ended at midnight, after 16 ‘Gallos’ had battled it out, and it was ‘Invert’, the veteran ‘Gallo’ from Bilbao, who was crowned National Champion and Spain’s rightful representative at the International Final.
Then came Nach’s concert, where the crowd went wild for his brilliant rhymes, followed by Legendario & Puto Largo, and rounding off with a cracking set from the lads in Dub Elements.
It was a real privilege to have produced one of Red Bull Spain’s most important events – and even more so to have done it on our home turf…
And as a good friend of ours, a colleague and fellow Cadiz native, said: “…and in front of more than 20,000 people, I’m showing my loved ones what I do for a living…” What a great colleague!!!
